The mystery of motivation : Why people get motivated ? What is the science behind motivation? To trace the source of motivation we need to look into the brain where neurotransmitters spark chemical messages to keep us alert and on task. The neurotransmitter that plays most important role in the science of motivation is Dopamine. During motivational activities the chemical signals generated by Dopamine take a pathway for carrying the chemical message. What will be the level of motivation depends on which pathway Dopamine takes. The mesolimbic pathway which comes from the middle of the brain and branches to various places like the cerebral cortex , is the most important reward pathway in the brain. If the Dopamine signals can be made to flow in this pathway, the motivation will be of very high level. Neuro Linguistic Programming for creating a resourceful state generates dopamine in the brain, however, the result in obtaining resourcefulness depends on whether the healer is able to influence the neurons of the healee to such an extent that dopamine flows in the reward pathway.
